Philadelphia Sculpture Gym Residency

Philadelphia Sculpture GymEditEdit Description

The Philadelphia Sculpture Gym now has four openings for resident artists who seek access to a wood shop, metal shop, jewelry studio, and a mold making and casting area in addition to affordable studio space. We are looking for dedicated artists that are truly invested in their craft as makers; individuals enthusiastic to pursue their creativity and develop work within the walls of PSG!

As sculptors, we understand that owning every piece of equipment necessary for creating is almost impossible as an emerging artist, let alone as an established maker. PSG acts as a vehicle to allow artists without the means or space to create.

A residency at the Philadelphia Sculpture Gym includes:
- Private studio space (approximately 150-300 sq. ft.)
- Use of all shops and equipment (7,500 sq ft shop. Safety training included with membership)
- Teaching opportunities
- Exhibition opportunities

Studio spaces for long-term rental, each resident pays between $250-$500 per month. A PSG monthly membership fee of $150 is required as well as a $250 refundable security deposit upon entry to the PSG residency. Residencies are a minimum of 6 months. Artists must provide their own materials. Residents are responsible for cleaning up after themselves.

To apply, please provide the following information:
• Personal contact information
• Résumé
• Artist Statement
• A personal statement (tell us everything you want us to know about yourself including your reasons for applying for a residency)
• 10 digital images
• A corresponding image list that includes the following: image number, title, medium, size, and date.
